Many Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee enthusiasts seek out rear axle assemblies from 95-02 Ford Explorers to use in their Jeeps. The 8.8 assemblies from the Explorer have disk brakes, a strong ring and pinion, 31 spline axle shafts and readily available parts. The downside of this swap is c-clip style axle shafts and the incorrect axle width.

The engineers as Superior came up with a fantastic solution -- the Super 88^TM axle kit. This ingenious kit comes with longer axle shafts and includes Set 20 bearings housing ends that push the axles out an additional 1 inch per side eliminating the C-clip and need for wheel spacers all at once and provides you with the additional strength of  4340 Chrome Moly axle shafts with 31 splines. What makes the kit even more attractive is that it makes installation easy and can be done in about 2-4 hours. All you need is a used 95-02 Ford Explorer 8.8 axle assembly and a few hours of wrenching.
