Superior Axle and Gear has a proud history that all started in 1934 in East LA at Foote Axle & Forge. Foote Forge was manufacturing axles for the OEM Heavy Duty Industry. The team at Foote Axle and Gear quickly learned that the axle shafts engineered by the OEMs could be significantly improved upon by using better designs, better materials and better manufacturing processes. These innovations became the hallmark of Foote Axle and Gear’s Superior Axle Division.
Some of these innovations include, the use of premium chromolly materials, rolled splines, torsional equalization, and the use of more splines on weaker applications and the resulting Super Kits such as the Super 44™ and Super 35™
While imitators appeared over night trying to reproduce a Superior Axle shaft, and trying to mimic our name none of them were able to do it right. The majority of these competitors brought in imported axle shafts that were nothing more than a cheap copy of a dumb-ed down OEM shaft.
In 2004 Superior Axle and Gear recognized the need for a
product line for the cost conscious consumers and began developing the Discovery Series imported product line in addition to its American Made Evolution series product line.
Rather than simply offer the cheap copies of OEM axle shafts available overseas, Superior opted to use its exclusively engineered designs with extremely tight specifications and contracted with only the finest manufacturing locations. Now the consumer can chose between the Evolution Series and Discovery Series based on their vehicles need.
So when you purchase a Superior Axle or Superior ring and pinion gear set, you know you are buying the best product from the original company, not simply a ‘me too’ product that may look like a Superior product but can’t even come close to performing like one.
