Carson City, Nevada - February 19, 2010 - Determination and Enthusiasm. These are just a few words that describe the drive behind Red Dragon's Racing Co-Founder and Driver Dave Schneider. Racing in the Ultra4 class in the Best in the Desert Series, Dave Schneider drove his Superior Axle sponsored Ultra4 class car to victory in the Parker 425.
The 2010 Ultra4 racing season began this month at the Best in the Desert, Blue Water Casino Parker 425, in Parker, AZ. The team knew that with the first season in the books, and the 4401 number on the car, they had a target on their backs at the starting line. Team Navigator Tim Priess was quoted as saying “We raced the entire 2009 season and earned the championship, we will do our best to defend it, I believe we has the ability to make it happen"
Racing the same car that won the 2009 Championship, Schneider demonstrated his determination to win the opening race of the season, knowing that the competition was fierce off the starting line, With what is considered the Superbowl of Ultra4 racing (King of the Hammers) being only 6 days later, Schneider was pushed the car only as hard as needed to assure they were the first Ultra4 to cross the finish line. It took an amazing team effort by the Red Dragon's Racing team to keep the car in the lead the entire race with quick efficient pit stops, and excellent communication.
Perhaps one of the most memorable moments of the race was at the half way point in the race, doing what is referred to as the “Parker Python”, a 9 mile winding section of course through the main pit and spectator area, covered in large jumps and high banked turns. With having a short rainfall in the morning, the normal silt terrain had turned into dough like consistency. This put the 4wd and high horsepower of the Ultra4 car to the test but we were able to run as fast if not faster than some of the top cars in the race through the python. Schneider commented, “We entered the python on the tail of a faster class car, and were able to out brake, and out accelerate one of the fastest cars in off road racing. We pushed the car harder than a "rock crawler" had ever should be pushed. We are proud that great manufactures such as General Tire, Bilstein Shocks, Superior Axle & Gear, Trail Gear, Vision X Lighting and Shaffer's Off Road who have chose to partner with us again this season and have treated us well. This win is a testament to the strength of our race team partners and the incredible products that they continue to develop.” Shaffer's Off Road has worked hard in the off season preparing, and upgrading the car and have really been a key in helping to secure the win. Best in the Desert and HammerKing Productions really have put together a great class and racing series. I’ve been racing in Best in the Desert my entire career and to win in Parker is a dream come true.”
