For several year’s Superior Axle and Gear has sponsored 4Wheel Drive Hardware’s Team #311. Driver Kelly Young is one tenacious competitor and has really made a big splash in the rock crawling world. She has shown the guys that she can be just as hard core as they can be and with the help of her team has built up a competition rig that is simply amazing.
Team #311’s rig had always been an ‘in your face’ bright green in years past but during the 09 season was curiously transformed to a bright pink…  For those of you unfamiliar with Team #311 and Kelly Young, you may not know that Kelly’s dear mother Marie has been one of her greatest supporters and would cheer her and the team on at many of the W.E. Rock events. Sadly, Marie passed away in 2008 as a result of cancer and the whole team took the loss to heart. The team decided to honor Marie’s memory by launching the “Crawl to Cure Cancer” program that would raise awareness of the disease and work to secure donations to cure cancer.
Kelly and Team #311 transformed their competition rig from their trademark green to a metallic pink and accented it with black graphics including logos for Crawl to Cure Cancer, The American Cancer Society along with their many sponsors. They started soliciting donations, selling T-shirts and raising cancer awareness at every event they attended. During 2009 Team #311 was able to collect and donate about 15K to the American Cancer Society!
